Hub Stats - Very Useful Tool to Improve Traffic to Your Hub
74
Have you noticed the "stats" feature on top of your hub? It's called Hub Stats. It has a new feature - a colorful graph. I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks Hubpages team!
I had not noticed the Hub Stats feature until recently. I don't know how long it's been there, most probably it's been there all along. But I just noticed it a couple of months ago, I clicked on it, and the rest as they say is history. What a very useful tool! It has not only helped me improve traffic on my hubs, but I also see an improvement in my earnings.
When you click on your Hub Stats, it will bring you to the Total page. Here, you will find the all-time traffic to your hub. This means the total number of views since you first published your hub. It also shows how many times your photos (if you have them in your hub) had been viewed through the photo slideshow feature. The Total page of your Hub Stats also gives you the top traffic sources to your hub. And now, it also shows the traffic history of your hub in a colorful graph. How cool is that?
The Hub Stats contain the following headers:
- Day - your page views and top traffic sources in the last 24 hours
- Week - your page views and top traffic sources in the last 7 days
- Month - your page views and top traffic sources in the last 30 days
- Total - your total page views and top traffic sources since you published your hub
- Keywords - the keywords used by viewers to find your hub. It also gives you words that appear in searches but are not in your title
- Hub Metrics - the total number of words in your hub, revenue potential, incoming links, view duration, when you published your hub, and the short URL for your hub.
Each page of the Hub Stats has a traffic graph, which I find very useful and attractive to boot. It gives you a bird's eye view of the traffic in your hub in a very easy to understand graph. Again, how cool is that?
Here's an example of the Hub Stats in one of my hubs. The Hub Stats can be found on the top of the hub page (see "Stats" circled in red).
When you click on the Hub Stats, it will take you to Total Page.
Total Page
In this example, it shows that my total number of views for this hub is 1,320 and there were 179 slide views. Total Page also shows my hub's 12 Top Traffic Sources, which show google UK as my number one traffic source, followed by google.com and Hubpages (thank you all).
The awesome graph at the bottom shows that the views on this hub peaked to 150 twice, and that the average views are below 25 views a day.
(You may click on the images to see the original size.)
To the left of the tab "Total," you will see "Day, "Week," and "Month."
Let's click on "Day," shall we?
Day Page
The Day Page shows that in the last 24 hours, there were 15 views on this hub. It also shows the Top Traffic Sources in the last 24 hours for this hub.
The traffic sources for this hub in the last 24 hours show that it got 2 views coming from google.com, 2 views from google UK, 2 views from google Singapore, and 2 views from google Philippines.
It also shows that this hub got views from other google sources, as well as bing and yahoo.
Now, let's click on "Week."
Week Page
The Week Page shows that in the last seven days, there were 118 views on this hub. It also shows the Top Traffic Sources in the last seven days.
The traffic sources show that in the last seven days, this hub got 33 views from google.com, 21 views from google Philippines, and 10 views from google UK.
This page also shows that in the last seven days, aside from google, this hub also got traffic from Hubpages, bing and yahoo.
Now, let's click on "Month."
Month Page
The Month Page shows that in the last thirty days, this hub received a total of 866 views. It also shows the Top Traffic Sources in the last thirty days.
The traffic sources show that in the last thirty days, this hub's major traffic came from google UK, followed by google.com, google Philippines, and google Nigeria.
This page also shows that in the last thirty days, aside from google, the top traffic sources for this hub included Hubpages and bing.
Next to the Month tab is Total Page, which we have already seen above. To the right of Total are "Keywords" and "Hub Metrics."
First, let's click on "Keywords."
Keywords
The Keywords Page will show you the words or phrases used by people to reach your hub. These are called keywords.
The data on this page includes searches from the last 30 days, and it is updated on a daily basis.
Right under the words "Search Term Data," it shows a new feature to Hub Stats. The Keywords Page now shows the list of words that appears commonly in the searches that brings visitors to your hub, but do not appear in its title. Incorporating these words in your title may help people find your hub.
In this case, the word "Nigeria" has been used in about 61% of searches, but the word "Nigeria" is not part of the title.
Now, let's click on "Hub Metrics."
Hub Metrics
- Word Count - This is simply the number of words in your hub, which includes words from text, table, and photo capsule captions. This hub shows 4,038 words. Too long.
- Revenue Potential - This is a very rough prediction of earning per page view based on the subject matter of the hub. The more dollar signs ($) showing means the higher the potential earnings. Three dollar signs ($$$) is average. This hub shows $$$, which means this hub may earn some money, but not much. According to Hubpages, hubs on real estate and finance tend to earn more per visitor than entertainment or poetry hubs. This sample hub is about Mothers Day - a middle of road subject matter - thus the average earning potential.
- Incoming Links - The more links to your hub, the more stars you will see here. However, it can take up to a month for new links to be recognized so this metric is relevant primarily to well-established hubs. The more interesting and useful your hubs are, the more likely that people will link to them. The sample hub shows only one star. I'm hoping it's because my hub is only a month old, and not because it is boring.
- View Duration - This shows the average amount of time visitors spend on this page. The more stars you see, the more time the visitors are spending on your hub. Three stars is average. This sample hub has four stars, which means visitors are spending time reading this hub. That is good, considering this is a long hub with more than four thousand words.
- First Published - The date simply shows the date you first published your hub. This is useful when you are filing a DMCA complaint, when someone had copied your hub.
- Short URL - You can use the short URL to link to your hub on Twitter, in email, or anywhere else that the shortened URL is preferable. However, according to Hubpages, for most other linking, it is better to use the full URL of your hub.
Imagine, all these valuable information in your Hub Stats at your fingertips. You can use this information to improve your hub and get more traffic. And more traffic to hub means bigger potential for your hub to earn more money for you.
The Hub Stats is definitely a very useful tool to improve traffic to your hub. So, go ahead and use it.
